Lucky Dublin punter scoops a staggering €130,000 from a €30 bet

Alan Loughnane

Lucky fecker…

One Dublin punter is €132,789 richer this morning after his €30 accumulator came in last night.

The punter placed two bets, a €10 10-fold and a €20 eight-fold, and the final game came down to Crystal Palace beating Bournemouth last night.

He then had the option of cashing out, with Paddy Power offering €33,000 on the two accumulators.

But the gambler stood his ground, even though he was relying on a win from Palace, who hadn’t secured an away win in nine games… he’s a braver man than we are anyway.

For the record, Crystal Palace won 2-0 last night after goals from Scott Dann in the 46th minute and Christian Benteke in stoppage time.

His €10 10-fold returned around €44,500, with the €20 eight-fold scooping him a monster €88,000.

His bets were as follows:

Acca 1 (Selections in bold)
9/5 Nancy v Bordeaux
27/10 Bayer Leverkusen v Borussia Monchengladbach
10/11 Angers v Metz
11/4 PSG v Monaco (Draw)
3/1 Sampdoria v Roma
1/3 Atletic Bilbao v Sporting Gijon
21/10 Toulouse v Saint-Etienne
13/5 Bournemouth v Crystal Palace
Acca 2 (Selections in bold)
1/6 Werder Bremen v Bayern Munich
4/11 Villarreal v Granada
27/10 Bayer Leverkusen v Borussia Monchengladbach
10/11 Angers v Metz
5/1 Lazio v Chievo
2/1 Torino v Atlanta (Draw)
2/9 Betis vs Barcelona
11/4 PSG v Monaco (Draw)
1/3 Atletic Bilbao v Sporting Gijon
13/5 Bournemouth v Crystal Palace

It wasn’t looking good for him at stages throughout the bet and he needed a 90th minute leveller from Monaco’s Bernardo Silva at PSG to secure the draw.

He also needed Sampdoria to score twice to come from behind against Roma and perhaps most spectacularly of all, Borussia Monchengladbach’s three goals in the second half saved the bet. The German side had been two goals down in their match with Bayer Leverkusen.

A spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “The stones on that man! Not only did he have two accas rammed with underdogs but to hold firm when there’s a massive cash-out on the table shows extraordinary faith.

“Landing one accumulator of this size is one hell of an achievement but two in a weekend is something that we’ve never seen before and he’s definitely earned his place in our Punting Hall of Fame.”
