Manchester United set to launch £40m bid for Spurs striker

No, it isn't Roberto Soldado

Manchester United will reportedly bid £40m to bring Harry Kane to Old Trafford from Spurs this summer.

The 21-year-old has had a stellar breakthrough season at Tottenham, becoming the first player since Gary Lineker in 1992 to reach 30 goals for the season, and now Manchester United want to pay big money to bring him to Old Trafford.

Kane only signed a new five-and-a-half year deal to stay in North London in early February, but that hasn’t stopped Louis van Gaal from pursuing a player who also scored minutes after making his England debut against Lithuania in March.

With Robin van Persie showing little of the form he displayed during Alex Ferguson’s final year in charge two years ago, Radamel Falcao mostly sat on the bench and Wayne Rooney approaching his 30th birthday in October, United are widely expected to add some striking talent in the summer months.

As well as Kane, they continue to be linked with an ambitious bid to bring Gareth Bale back to the Premier League from Real Madrid.
