The French driver remains in hospital and the team say they are respecting the wishes of the Bianchi family by not releasing any update on his condition.

We were all reminded just how dangerous Formula 1 can be yesterday when Marussia driver Jules Bianchi suffered a serious head injury following a crash at the Japanese Grand Prix.

The 25-year old’s Marussia hit a vehicle that was in the process of removing Adrian Sutil’s crashed car from the rain-soaked track and he was immediately taken to hospital, where it is understood he underwent a head operation.

Details on his exact injuries, and his current condition, have been scarce and this morning his team issued a statement to confirm that the reason for the lack of updates is out of respect for the Bianchi family.
