Mayo’s David Clarke wins an All Star despite being dropped v Dublin

Tony Cuddihy

The 2016 football All Stars have been named, with Mayo’s David Clarke included despite being dropped for the All-Ireland football final replay against Dublin last month.

The team was unveiled this morning, and the inclusion of Clarke comes as something of a shock following Stephen Rochford’s decision to go with Rob Hennelly between the posts as Mayo went on to lose a pulsating Championship finale.

Dublin received six All Stars, with four from Mayo overall.

Ulster champions Tyrone provide two, with one each from Kerry, Donegal and Tipperary, for whom Michael Quinlivan is named.
