WATCH: O’Donovan Brothers give fantastic shout-out to Irish hockey team during post-race interview

Rory Cashin

What a pair of legends.

As reported earlier, Gary and Paul O’Donovan did Ireland proud once more on Sunday, picking up silver in the Lightweight Double Sculls at the European Championships in Glasgow.

It was noticed during the coverage on the BBC that they had put a Union Jack flag up beside the brothers’ names, pretty much claiming them as British, which… didn’t go down to well.

Regardless, their post-race interview was another fantastic few moments in the company of the lads, as they discuss how they feel about coming so close to winning, what they’re planning on doing in the next few days and weeks, and talk of a visit to Spain which involves neither party knowing how to speak to the other all too well.

That is something we 100% NEED to be present for.

At the end of the interview, the lads are asked for their take on the Irish Hockey Team making it to the World Cup final, and even though they are just moments out of their own boat, they have nothing but love and support for their fellow Irish sportsfolk!
