Italia 90 documentary

The perfect way to fill the wait until the World Cup starts.

We’re now in that weird, depressing and desolate period of the year when the majority of the  football season has finished – FYI, get out an watch a League of Ireland game if you can – but for many fans, the wait until the World Cup begins is a very impatient one.

On this note, the History Channel are here to ease the collective suffering of anyone that loves the beautiful game because they’ve just launched a week-long series of football documentaries that kicks-off this evening with a look back at Italia ’90.

Gazza’s tears, Roger Milla’s iconic celebration, Claudio Caniggia getting absolutely lifted out of it during the opening game and most famously, David O’Leary’s winning penalty against Romania, are bound to figure.

Still though, what about that tackle on the Argentinian?

Anyway, there’s going to be a week of World Cup-themed programming on History that also includes many of the official Fifa tournament films and loads more.

The Italia ’90s documentary starts at 9pm this evening but that’s just a brief taste of what’s in store.

Keep an eye on their schedule because it’s bound to be brimming with nostalgic gold from the history of football.

Time to set record.
