This sets the mood nicely for the big one at Anfield tonight.
Games against the likes of Ludogorets and Basel are all well and good, but Liverpool will really feel they’re back in the Champions League when they face the European Champions at Anfield this evening.
Amongst the array of talent at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal will be the ridiculously prolific Cristiano Ronaldo, who, as a Manchester United legend, is bound to get a hostile reception on Merseyside.
Reds fans will be hoping that the special atmosphere at the old ground will help them pull off what would be a famous victory against the Spanish giants, but as the cover of AS points out this morning (This is Anfield… and this is Cristiano) this is Cristiano Ronaldo we’re talking about.

Just in case Liverpool fans had forgotten, this is the Cristiano Ronaldo who has 69 goals in 105 Champions League appearances, who has already scored 19 goals this season and who is practically impossible to stop when in the form he’s in at the minute.
