They’ll be sore in the morning, but Declan Fitzpatrick and Chris Henry didn’t look too bothered after a successful start to their Heineken Cup campaign.

The hero of the night at Ravenhill was Paddy Jackson, who kicked 17 points, while Tommy Bowe used all his nous to leap into the air and claim a high ball for the home side’s only try on the way to a 22-13 win over Leicester.

It didn’t start too well for Ulster, with Logovi’i Mulipola crossing for a try for the visitors but the Ulstr men were back in it when Bowe out jumped fellow Irishman Niall Morris to get his campaign off to a flyer.

Then it was all Jackson, who kicked from every corner of Ravenhill to crush Leicester’s hopes, though the English side did escape with a bonus point.

The picture of the night is a classic, with Declan Fitzpatrick and Chris Henry, both with mystery wounds, and blood-soaked shirts, beaming after the game.

Over in Connacht, the shock looked to be on as two first half tries had Pat lam’s side level at 17-17 with Saracens at half-time. The high-flying English side don’t do too much better in the second half but two Owen Farrelll penalties meant they left Galway with the win.

A tough defeat for Connacht to take, but they showed they can compete with the very best, so hopefully it id the start of some better form.
