Maybe he’s holding out for Barcelona?
The football season is about to get underway as new signings settle into their clubs but there’s always a few players that are on that lonely list that’s titled ‘unattached’.
Former Man City and Marseille midfielder Joey Barton is currently looking for a new club after being let go by QPR but it seems like he won’t be turning up in the League of Ireland anytime soon.
The midfielder was conducting a Twitter Q&A this afternoon and he claimed that the only way that he would be plying his trade in our own league is if he lost all of his money.
Maybe he would change his tune if he found out that Cabinteely were taken over by a rich sheikh.
I’m sure that Mr Barton would be given an “interesting” welcome if he ever did play in some of our League of Ireland stadiums.

No. Probably retire. Unless of course I lost all my money in a Bernie Madoff style ponzi and had no other option. https://t.co/kXXasGQwbZ
