PIC: Map of Ireland with Union Jack colours on it appears on Champions League coverage on Belgian TV

Try again lads

Nope, there’s something not right there.

In Ireland, we can get a little bit touchy when Ireland is a victim of mistaken identity in an international context.

Ireland being referenced as being a part of Britain is a mistake that’s been made numerous occasions over the years, while we’ve lost count of the amount of famous people from these shores who’ve been incorrectly referred to as ‘British’.

It puts a few noses out of joint any time it happens and any Irish people tuning into the coverage of Manchester United’s Champions League game against FC Bruges on Belgian TV will have raised an eyebrow when this graphic was displayed in the pre-game build-up.

Somebody needs a history and geography lesson, we think.

Hat-tip to Damian Keane for sending this one our way
