Pic: Paul McGrath has some strong words for those racist Chelsea fans in Paris

Hard to argue with anything that's said here

Hard to argue with anything that’s said here

Paul McGrath ranks very highly in JOE’s list of the most iconic Irish athletes of all-time so naturally we’re always interested in anything that the legendary defender has to say.

You may have seen the appalling scenes in Paris recently as a minority of Chelsea fans prevented a black man from boarding a train before they gleefully launched into a song that celebrated and revelled in their racism.

While we know that this small bunch of moronic ‘fans’ aren’t indicative of the majority of proper and well behaved Chelsea fans, Paul McGrath took to Twitter to have his say on the club that he supports.

If you’ve read the stunning autobiography of the former Man Utd, Aston Villa and Derby County defender, Back from the Brink, then you’ll know that the Irish legend has had his own experiences when it comes to dealing with intolerant racists.

Football fans around the world will echo these sentiments.

The club have been swift in their response to the footage and their response will please McGrath and football fans around the world.
