Taylor left the pitch in tears just minutes into his first league start for almost three years.

Ryan Taylor suffered a heartbreaking injury during Newcastle’s clash with QPR at St. James’ Park, leaving the field in tears with, seemingly, a recurrence of the knee injury that kept him out for most of the last three years.

As he left the pitch, the Liverpudlian full-back was consoled by Irish defender Richard Dunne and his former Toon team-mate Joey Barton, who also hails from Merseyside.

Hopefully the injury doesn’t turn out to be as bad as it looked.
