They’re not wrong but this is still just a little bit harsh…

The Irish rugby public are still coming to terms with what was a truly magnificent and historic victory for the Ireland women’s team over their New Zealand counterparts in France this evening.

It was the first time since 1991 the Black Ferns had lost a game at the Women’s Rugby World Cup and only their second defeat in the competition overall. Yep, to paraphrase Ron Burgundy, it was kind of a big deal.

The magnificent achievement of the Irish team was recognised by the official All-Blacks Twitter account, who couldn’t resist a dig at our men’s team when congratulating Fiona Coghlan and company on their victory. The tweet appears to have since been deleted, but that’s what screengrabs are for…

Like we said, they’re not wrong but surely there’s a time and a place?

Not that it matters anyway, because we won this time and for now, that’s all that matters.

Congratulations once again ladies, what a fantastic result.
