It’s all well and good when you’re a professional footballer and you’re being paid very well to do your job, but down in the lower leagues, players aren’t so well rewarded and have to make sacrifices for their team that affect their lives outside of football.
Sometimes, however, those sacrifices just aren’t worth making and there was no way a Scottish Cup fourth round tie against Arbroath was going to prevent Bo’ness United’s Stewart Devine from heading off on his holiers.
Couldn’t they have just said that he had pulled a muscle or something?
