The GAA gospel is spreading folks…

Anyone that’s spent any time in a far-flung destination will have realised the influence of the GAA in places far away from Ireland, thanks to the efforts of travelling ex-pats and the GAA themselves in an effort to spread the message of our native games to a wider audience.

That said, it’s still something of a surprise to come across articles about Gaelic Football and hurling in a Japanese geography school book, complete with high-quality photos of Declan O’Sullivan and Eoin Cadogan and Henry Shefflin and John O’Keefe (we think) battling it out in the 2013 Munster Football Final and 2011 All-Ireland Hurling Final respectively.

The pictures are accompanied by text which we can only imagine describes both games as the best in the world and infinitely superior to all other sports and if Japan has already got that message, it won’t be long before the rest of the world cops on to it too.

The GAA, big in Japan, eh? Who’d have thunk it?

Hat-tip to Eamonn McGee for sending the pictures our way
