The victorious Connacht team returned to Galway with Leinster’s scalp and the PRO12 trophy at roughly 1am on Sunday morning and boy were their supporters happy to see them.

Connacht got their hands on their first major trophy in their 131-year history after beating Leinster 20-10 in Edinburgh.

According to community website Kilmovee.info, hundreds of rugby fans from the west turned up to welcome back their heroes.

Coach Pat Lam and captain John Muldoon both addressed the jubilant crowd and photographer Rupert Davis was on hand to capture the magic of the moment, telling JOE.ie that “The west is awake, even if it’s 2am!”
