How the hell did they manage to see the sliotar?

Anyone who’s played GAA will know that weather conditions have to be bordering on apocalyptic for a game to be called off and there was further proof of that in Mullingar today.

Castlepollard and Dunboyne went head to head in the Leinster C schools hurling final in St. Loman’s Park and at various stages during the game, the scenes resembled something out of Siberia rather than the Irish midlands.

You certainly wouldn’t fancy taking a sliotar full-belt on your thigh in this weather, but the game was played in its entirety, with Castlepollard ending up on the winning side.

GAA in January, ya can’t bate it.

Hat-tip to Ciaran Carey, David McEntee and Shaunna Briody for the heads up with this one
