Spoiler alert – it’s not a good thing
Delino DeShields Jr. is a promising baseball talent who plays with one of the Houston Astros’ Single-A organisations, but will have to spend a little spell on the sidelines as a result of taking a fastball (travelling at 90mph) in the face this weekend.
His manager, Keith Bodie, explained that DeShields just never tracked the ball once it left the pitcher’s hand, and it clocked him square in the face. According to Bro Bible, Bodie added that he was pretty lucky, all things considered, just to suffer a broken cheek bone.

Now, we ain’t no medical doctors, we’re just a simple hyperchicken from a backwater asteroid, but it don’t look good to us. He seems happy enough anyway, even if half his face is twice the size it should be.
To anyone that is concerned as you can see I'm doing fantastic! Blessed to see another day! Always smiling lol pic.twitter.com/C5koD0Z5t9

He is apparently recovering well, apart from the swelling, and was discharged from hospital the same day that it happened. Here’s hoping he’s back playing and healthy soon enough.
