Premier League Scorecast: Saints to frustrate City in stalemate

Southampton have been in excellent defensive form this season.

JOE

Southampton entered this weekend second place in the Premier League. Not even the most optimistic Saints fan would have predicted that at the start of the season.

If Ronald Koeman keeps this sort of form going there is a good chance he will oust Matthew le Tissier as the most popular person in Southampton. Rightly so too, his side have made their best ever start to a top-flight season.

They have done this in the back-drop of perceived doom and gloom due to the loss of several of last season’s most important players.

Their success this campaign has largely been down to their excellent home form; they’re yet to lose at St Mary’s this season.

Manchester City on the other hand, have been stuttering while travelling lately. They have the second highest away points total in the league but have only taken a point from their last two away games.

It doesn’t get any easier when travelling to Southampton. The Saints have kept seven clean sheets in their last 11 games and we fancy them to continue their excellent defensive form in this game.

Our money is on a 0-0 draw. Ladbrokes are paying 11/1 for this outcome.
