Ahead of the two semi-finals this week, let’s have another look at the 2011 final, one of the games of the year at any level.
How good was last year’s Munster U21 hurling final? Well it ended up top on our end of year ‘Best Hurling Games of 2011’ and if that isn’t the highest accolade in the sport, we don’t know what is.
As we saw on Sunday, quite a few of these lads have no graduated to the seniors but this look back is well worth it. Weighing in at 80 minutes, and featuring no fewer than 52 scores, it was a hurling feast.
Perched into a lazy midweek slot in early August, it was one of the sporting highlights of the year, all the more so as it was unexpected. From Aiden Walsh’s late leveller in normal time to Declan Hannon’s decisive goal in extra time, this was a real thriller.
If you thought this year’s Leinster U1 final was good (and it was) then this is even better. Enjoy.
