We were never going to lose this game…
Ireland have a healthy lead of 28 points going into half time in the second game of the Natwest Six Nations, and so far it’s a very different encounter to last week’s game against France.
It was always going to be a far more open game than the cauldron of tension that was the Stade de France mere seven days ago.
Thankfully, the bonus point is already in the bag, although we’d have been confident of nailing one in the second half if we were still in the hunt.
It could be a long day at the office for Italy at this stage.
But Ireland suffered a major blow early on when Tadhg Furlong left the field early with what appeared to be a hamstring injury, so Ireland will be hoping that it’s not serious and he’ll be back in contention to start in two weeks time.

Hope that's not too serious for Tadhg Furlong. Limps off after three minutes.

Worried to see @tadhgfurlong go off, hoping it’s not serious. But go well @AindriuPorter first cap #IREvITA #6Nations

Conor Murray has been on song.
Conor Murray is running this game with such ease, 2 try assists and a try already #IREvITA

But overall it’s been a positive performance.

Ireland quite comfortable here, as the scoreline would suggest. The difference that quick ball (and the width we get with it) is night and day. Could be a big score here #IREvITA

Had seen a black swan this morning. Thought this might be bad omen – Ireland to lose at home to Italy?
Then thought… What are the chances of two black swans in same day?#IREvITA

We almost went the whole fist half without conceding a penalty! Easy enough when you have almost 70% of the possession #IREvITA

Great half for Ireland. 28-0, four tries, and a bonus point in the bag. The only negative is that injury to Furlong. #IREvITA #SixNations
