It wasn’t pretty, but at least we had a goal.
Wayne Rooney’s second half strike was enough to give Manchester United a 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
It was smash and grab stuff, not that Liverpool were much better. Jurgen Klopp’s luck against the bigger sides, refusing to play an out-and-out striker, finally ran out as James Milner and Adam Lallana failed to adequately support Roberto Firmino up front.
United, turgid in the first half, improved after the break as they finally managed to get some service up to Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial, who was the visitors’ best player on the day.
All three points went back to Manchester, with Liverpool’s hopes of a top four finish in tatters.
In a match that was the equivalent of two bald men fighting over a comb, Wayne Rooney's hair plugs prove the difference.

Not a clue how we won that game. Not a clue. Should have been the 0-0 myself and @neil_treacy predicted earlier! #mufc
