Munster’s Heineken Cup dreams were left in tatters as Toulon triumphed against Rob Penney’s men on Sunday afternoon.
It finished Toulon 24-16 Munster as the Frenchmen managed to survive a stoic resistence, with Simon Zebo’s try – the moment of the game – proving to be too little.
HT The Score
All but three of Toulon’s points came from the boot of Jonny Wilkinson – including one drop goal – with Delon Armitage also bagging a penalty.
Ian Keatley managed three penalties and a conversion but Munster were left to rue a missed opportunity when only five points down with ten minutes remaining – awarded a penalty, they chose not to kick for goal and the ensuing line-out came to nothing.
Crazy Munster didn’t take the three points there.
