Good news for Liverpool fans in a week they'd rather forget. Reports are coming through of a new four-year deal being agreed in principle with manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Ulster man has 12 months remaining on his current deal, but the Liverpool Echo are reporting that talks are at a very advanced stage to extend that contract by another four years. Rodgers has steered the Merseysiders into next season's Champions League and the Reds are still in with a shout of landing their first league title for 24 years.
On the back of such an impressive campaign, it's no surprise that the Fenway Sports Group are keen to tie him down to a new deal.
All that remains now is for Rodgers to actually sign the contract, which is expected to happen after their final league fixture of the season against Newcastle United at Anfield this Sunday. An official announcement is expected early next week.
