The German attacker was ruled out of the World Cup just weeks before the start of the tournament.
Marco Reus was reportedly on the brink of signing for Arsenal before an ankle injury scuppered his World Cup dream.
The Germany international has recently intimated that he wants to leave Borussia Dortmund but he could have already been a Gunners player for £35m, had he not been crocked.
Spanish journalist Kike Marin tweeted:
El #Arsenal estaba muy interesado en Reus y creo que podría haber pagado los €35 millones de su cláusula, pero su lesión lo paró todo.

This roughly translates as: Arsenal were very interested in Reus and almost paid £35m of his clause, but his injury stopped it all.
With Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich reportedly leading the chase for the 25-year-old’s signature, it seems that Arsene Wenger’s interest cooled once he had secured the signing of Alexis Sanchez.
