Invest and reap the rewards it seems…

There’s an old saying that you get out what you put in and Conor McGrgeor will certainly be hoping that this is true after reports emerged that he’s spent $300,000 (€269,000) on his UFC 202 fight camp.

The Notorious faces Nate Diaz next weekend in a rematch of their March clash, which saw Diaz emerge victorious through a rear-naked choke.

McGregor is never a man to wilt from spending some of his plentiful disposable income and the proof of that is the elaborate lifestyle he lives, but he invests just as much into ensuring he stays at the forefront of the MMA game.

“With gyms, cars, transport, flights, accommodations — I’d estimate we’re talking a $300,000 camp here,” McGregor told ESPN.

“This is a big, big expense — but what I make is big. So, in the bigger picture, it’s rather small.”

When he speaks about what he makes is “big”, he’s referring to the disclosed $1 million he was paid for showing up at UFC 196 and that doesn’t include the share he received from the pay-per-view revenue which was undoubtedly substantial.

The money on his camp so far has been spent on the likes of his coaching from John Kavanagh and Owen Roddy. The employment of a masseuse, nutritionist, movement coach, various sparring partners as well as the aforementioned travel expenses.
