Riddick Bowe wants to become a professional wrestler

At 46, the former heavyweight champ reckons it’s time he started grappling.

At 46, the former heavyweight champ reckons it’s time he started grappling.

Riddick ‘Big Daddy’ Bowe was a great, if controversial, heavyweight champion. With only one defeat in 44 fights (and that was to Evander Holyfield, who he went on to beat two out of the three times they fought) Bowe was an undisputed champ as well as the holder of the WBO belt at one point but he may be best known for dropping the WBC belt in the bin rather than fight Lennox Lewis.

That flair for the theatrical may come in handy now as the big fella, who hasn’t boxed since 2008, wants to try his hand at pro wrestling. In fairness, he has the perfect nickname.

Bowe tweeted his intentions over the weekend, and it seems he’s serious.

Former WWE wrestler Tommy Dreamer has already offered to train Bowe and knowing the love that Vince McMahon has for a bit of publicity, we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Riddick in the ring again.
