Rory McIlroy has only gone and done his ankle in playing football; looks set to miss The Open

Less than two weeks to The Open.

Less than a fortnight before the third major of the year, The Open, tees off in St Andrews, the world’s number one golfer has some alarming news for his adoring fans, not to mention his many, many sponsors.

Total rupture of left ATFL (ankle ligament) and associated joint capsule damage in a soccer kickabout with friends on Saturday. Continuing to asses extent of injury and treatment plan day by day. Rehab already started….. Working hard to get back as soon as I can.

We can only imagine that Rory will undergo an intense physio regime to get him right for St. Andrews in time, but it’s not looking good for that tournament or the rest of the season for that matter.
