What a final day.
If you were tired of hearing all the constant talk of any potential rivalry between Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth, the two darlings of the US and European PGA Tours, then it’s only going to intensify now after an absorbing final day at the US Open.
Jordan Spieth has now claimed back-to-back Majors after Dustin Johnson imploded on the last hole, three putting his way out of the title.
World number one Rory McIlroy (66) briefly threatened the leaders but ended level par along with Shane Lowry, however, McIlroy did sink arguably the finest putt of the weekend with this staggering birdie at the thirteenth hole.
When McIlroy is ‘in the zone’ like this, then there’s very few that can touch him.

McIlroy’s late charge was in vain though as Spieth carded a one-under 69 to become the youngest player to win the US Open in 92 years. This stat says it all. Roll on The Open.
