The brilliant and moving portrayal of the late Formula One Driver Ayrton Senna, Senna, is the highlight of the upcoming Formula Film Season on Sky Movies.

The Formula One season kicks into gear in less than a fortnight’s time and Sky are celebrating the launch of the new campaign by broadcasting a series of celebrated car-related films in the week leading up to the first race in Australia, from 12-16 March.

Senna, the much lauded documentary chronicling the life and times of the Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna, is undoubtedly the highlight of a schedule that will have petrolheads drooling onto their steering wheels and it will be screened on Friday, 16 March at 10pm on Sky Movies Showcase.

Other highlights include the fast-paced blockbuster Ronin, the brilliant Bourne Supremacy and the slightly cringey but still entertaining Days of Thunder, featuring Tom Cruise and Robert Duvall.

Formula Film forms part of Sky’s complimentary programming to celebrate the launch of Sky’s brand new channel Sky Sports F1™ HD. This new home of Formula 1™ will be the only place to enjoy live coverage of the whole Grand Prix™ season, including all practice and qualifying sessions and every race in the calendar.

The dedicated channel will be provided at no extra charge to all Sky TV customers who take both Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 or who take Sky’s HD pack of channels. Sky Atlantic HD will broadcast PETROL AGE, a four part series celebrating the story of British motoring through the ages and Sky 1 HD will also broadcast a motoring special episode of Gadget Geeks.
