Shane Lowry suggests that Joey Barton head along to the golfing action in Dubai

Conor Heneghan

Shane Lowry is well known for his sense of humour, so it comes as little surprise he has suggested to Joey Barton to head along to follow the golf while holidaying in Dubai.

The DP World Tour Championship will this weekend conclude the 2013 European Tour, with the Race to Dubai winner set to be decided on Sunday evening and the action really is in full swing (like what we did there?).

Shane Lowry is in action in the United Arab Emirates after missing out last year due to shingles, and while he isn’t one of the five players who can top the money list, a top-30 finish on the money list would earn Lowry a place in the field for next year’s British Open.

He was quick to note that Joey Barton has been making the most of international week by going for a bit of sun in Dubai, and the Offaly man has suggested he tag along to see some of the best golfers – or ‘real sportsmen’ as he cheekily suggests – around.

The QPR man, who is pals with Lowry’s caddy Wayne Husselbury, did respond, but not in the manner we had expected given the playful jibe.
