St Pats to face Polish champions in the Champions League while Dundalk and Derry get easier draws in Europa

Airtricity League champions St Patrick’s Athletic face a tough test in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League after they were drawn against Polish Champions Legia Warsaw.

Legia , who have won consecutive Polish championships, are managed by former Manchester United and Blackburn defender Henning Berg.

The Saints are currently 6 points behind leaders Dundalk in the league but they have enjoyed some successful European campaigns in the last few seasons. The first leg is set to be played in Warsaw on the 15/16th of July with the return leg in Dublin a week later.

Elsewhere in the Europa League, Dundalk have been drawn against AS Jeunesse Esch of Luxemborg while Derry City will face Aberystwyth of the Welsh Premier League.

The Candystripes will host the Welsh club at Brandywell on Thursday, July 3rd ext with the return leg played on July 10th at Park Avenue.
