Tommy Bowe’s painting of his game winning try against England, or Sligo 71 as the tactical move was called, is one of a number of high profile charity pictures up for sale.

Lions winger Bowe is among a number of high-profile celebrities who have taken to the canvas to raise funds for the Kerry Hospice Foundation that was founded back in 1990.

Fellow Lions Paul O’Connell and Simon Zebo, along with TV personalities Laura Whitmore and Zig and Zag showed their creative side for the “One –Off” exhibition which takes place on July 12th at the Palliative Day Care Unit, Tralee, County Kerry.

All artwork for sale will be on a 6 inch x 6 inch canvas and sold at a set price of €100 and the purchaser will not know the identity of the artist until they purchase the work, though we do know that ‘Sligo 71’ was painted by the very man that finished off the pre-rehearsed move to delight Irish fans everywhere with another famous win on English soil. How it became known as ‘Sligo 71’ isn’t clear to us and if anyone can shed light on this please do so.

This will surely be a popular item in the sale, and while it might not be completely anonymous anymore, it should help raise the profile of this great initiative to raise more funds for a worthy cause.

This is another picture that will be up for sale, so we’re guessing it was either Zebo or O’Connell that created the masterpiece.
