Forget the All-Stars, these are the awards that GAA players really want to win.
The Maurice Fitz award for the score with the most outrageous curl of the week
This award is going to Waterford’s young prodigy Austin Gleeson for his magnificent sideline against Dublin in Semple Stadium yesterday.
Despite missing one moments earlier, it did not deter the Mount Sion man from splitting the posts with such a filthy curl, it was borderline illegal to watch.
Wow… just wow.
The ‘business at the back and sides, party up front’ championship haircut of the week award
As the numbers dwindle in the championship and we edge ever closer to the finals, there is a clear drop in the number of memorable haircuts as players begin to focus on their games, rather than their own aesthetics.
We went for this solid effort from Barry O’Driscoll.
Helluva hairline Barry, Rogaine are unlikely to ever procure your business.

This effort from Donal Og Cusack was another strong contender for haircut of the week.
But after a quick consultation with the judging panel it was decided that he was ineligible for the ‘business at the back and sides, party up front’ haircut award due to his retirement from the game.
So here he is representing Cork in the GAA-mmys and what we’re sure is his proudest moment in GAA circumstances, never mind those three All-Ireland medals he has.
It’s another bold fashion choice but it pays off in spades and gets TSG back on track in the sartorial stakes after Dessie Dolan’s Ron Burgundyesque outing last week.
The ‘did he get that from the soccer?’ showboat of the week
No contest here, Fermanagh’s Tomas Corrigan scored a delicious goal against Westmeath on Saturday with a very cheeky chip.
Credit must go to Richard O’Callaghan for his great little flick to set up one of the best finishes of the season so far and a piece of skill Clinton Morrison would be proud of…
Sign that maybe the GAA isn’t getting soft at all award
Is there any doubting who will get the gong this week? Galway powerhouse Jonathan Glynn made his presence felt against Cork putting in a man of the match performance.
It’s rumoured that Superman wears Jonathan Glynn pyjamas but this is yet to be confirmed…
Only in the GAA moment of the week
The Sunday Game got a lot of laughs last night when they produced this horribly photoshopped image of Waterford’s Shane Bennett.
Not a clanging error by any means but still obvious and amusing enough to garner a lot of attention on social media.
Readers will be happy to know that Shane is more in proportion in real life…

JOE’s Guaranteed Irish Sports’ Star of the Week Award, a tribute to the tradition of incredibly long names for award titles in the GAA
Johnny Glynn had a memorable weekend to say the least as his post-match has now gone viral and his cult hero status around the country is growing.
We can’t blame him for his explicit language as he was after playing the game of his life and the adrenalin must have been pumping.
Hilarious stuff…
