Hayley O’Connor takes on the might of the JOE sports team each week in a Premier League betting challenge. If there’s such a thing as the opposite of Tony McCoy, that’s what we are so far.

While the Premier League has largely been devoid of major shocks this season, both Hayley and ourselves managed to pick one last week. We both thought Chelsea would crush Newcastle at St James’ Park, but instead Jose picked ’11 mistakes’ and our accumulators went down the pan.

As is so often the way, we both then had to sit and watch as our other selections all came in, across four different matches. So near and yet, dear reader, so far. You can check out what we picked last week right here.

All in all, Chelsea’s dismal showing against the Magpies cost us well over a collective grand, so we need to get off the mark this week to make ourselves feel better. And to ensure we beat Ladbrokes resident betting guru.

Here’s Hayley’s picks for Week 4:

Chelsea to beat West Brom, 2/7

He let me down last week, but surely Jose won’t do it again.

Aston Villa to beat Cardiff , 21/20

Villa’s home form is not great, but I reckon their luck will turn this weekend

Manchester United and Arsenal to draw, 12/5

Too hard to call this one, so I reckon this will be a stalemate

That treble comes in at just under 9/1, so for Hayley’s €100 bet, a potential €900 return awaits.

And here’s JOE’s picks:

Liverpool to beat Fulham, 1/4

A banker for sure and this could get very ugly as the SAS look to get over the blank they drew against Arsenal last week.

Norwich and West Ham to draw, 23/10

Norwich are not as bad as last week’s shellacking at City made them look, especially at home, while West Ham are pretty toothless on their travels. Has the bang of a 0-0 off it to us.

Manchester City to beat Sunderland, 2/7

If this game were on at the Etihad, it would be the shortest odds game of the season. But even away from home, City look to be really hitting form. Sergio Aguero is in sensational form, Alvaro Negredo is not far off and poor old Sunderland are still a mess. A certain an away win as you can get.

With this treble worth just over 11/2, JOE is very, very confident.

We’ll know for sure next week so check back then for an update, when the win-o-meter hopefully won’t look so bare… Ladbrokes_Win-o-meter_v1a LadbrokesLogo
