The JOE v Ladbrokes Football Accumulator Challenge: Week 6

Hayley O’Connor takes on the might of the JOE sports team each week in a Premier League betting challenge. We're dearly hoping the international break has helped us find some form.

JOE

Hayley O’Connor takes on the might of the JOE sports team each week in a Premier League betting challenge. So far, it has been a win-free zone but we remain optimistic…

This is one of those seasons that drive punters crazy. Nobody is a reliable bet and even the teams at the top are prone to stumbling just when you need them to win and complete your accumulator.

Last week, it was Wes Brown, or referee Kevin Friend, who cost us big time as Sunderland unjustly went down to 10 men, allowing Stoke to stroll to a win, rather than the dull draw we expected. We see Friend has been booted off the Premier League rota this weekend, but that doesn’t line our pockets, does it? Mike Riley you owe us one.

At least we did better than Hayley, who only had one of her three picks come in. Surely, if there is any karma in the world, we’ll get the rub of the green this week and land a few quid for our fund.

Here’s Hayley’s picks for Week 6:

Cardiff to draw with Arsenal, 3/1

Better than most at home, I reckon Wenger’s side will only manage a share of the points in Wales.

Newcastle to beat West Brom, Evs

Much and all as I love Shane Long, Newcastle are in good form right now, and should win at home

Liverpool to beat Hull, 8/13

It’s hard to see anyone, let alone the Hull defence, stop Luis Suarez from scoring these days

That all adds up to a very tasty bet of almost 13/1, so for Hayley’s €100 bet, a monster €1,300 could be in the kitty come Sunday night.

And here’s JOE’s picks:

Everton to beat Stoke, 8/13

We’re still pissed off with Stoke, but we reckon Everton will be too strong at home this weekend.

Chelsea to beat Southampton, 4/7

Chelsea have stung us a few times already this season but the Saints were beaten in London last week and we fancy a repeat.

Manchester City to beat Swansea, 1/4

Despite their erratic showing in midweek, City are still a formidable force at home and should blow away their Welsh visitors…

In a bid to get off the mark, our treble this week is a rather more conservative 7/2, but we need to get some cash in, so we’re playing it a little safe.

We’ll know for sure next week so check back then for an update, when the win-o-meter hopefully won’t look so bare… Ladbrokes_Win-o-meter_v1a LadbrokesLogo
