Hayley O’Connor takes on the might of the JOE sports team each week in a Premier League betting challenge. Eighth time lucky is a thing, right?

Another week of odd results (defeat for Manchester United and Chelsea and only a draw for Manchester City) means that both Hayley’s picks, and our own, didn’t land. In fact, the only thing either of us got right was Liverpool’s defeat of West Ham.

Honestly, if we were to take out all the teams that let us down this season, we’d have no-one to bet on at all. But we have enlisted in this challenge so by the power vested in us by the gambling Gods, we must continue.

Here’s Hayley’s picks for Week 8:

Chelsea to beat Crystal Palace, 2/11

I think Chelsea will get back on track this weekend against the Eagles.

Everton to beat Fulham, 4/11

On fire at the moment, I can’t see Everton losing at home to Fulham

Manchester United to beat Aston Villa, 3/4

Despite their up and down form I reckon David Moyes’s men will get the better of Paul Lambert at Villa Park on Sunday.

At just under 3/1, it is lower odds than I’d like but I need a win…

And here’s JOE’s picks:

Cardiff to beat West Brom, 7/5

West Brom aren’t too hot on their travels (one win in their last six away) so we think the home side can eke out the win here.

Everton to beat Fulham, 4/11

We continue to be hugely impressed by Roberto Martinez’s side and we don’t think the revamped Fulham are up to taking anything from the Toffees just yet.

Norwich to beat Swansea, 13/8

The Canaries have won their last two at Carrow Road, while Swansea are only just back from a trip to Switzerland. Add in the suspension of Chico and this should be a home win.

Those three add up to a very appealing 17/2, a very welcome Christmas coffers boost.

We’ll know for sure next week so check back then for an update, when the win-o-meter hopefully won’t look so bare…Ladbrokes_Win-o-meter_v1a LadbrokesLogo
