Conor McGregor fight

Dana White has hinted as much…

The rumours continue to circulate that Conor McGregor will return to the octagon this year, pending his court appearance in July, and face off against current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

McGregor is to return to court on 26 July to enter a plea for the charges of assault and criminal mischief that are pending against him.

If all goes to plan, he will be freed up to potentially return to UFC action sometime after that, but two dates in particular are standing out.

But, Dana White dismissed reports that the fight will take place in a big arena in Russia.

“No, that’s not happening in Russia,” White told The MMA Roasted Podcast. “Yeah, that’s not happening in Russia. Because that’s going to happen in Las Vegas.”

The UFC are due to hold their first event in Russia on September 15, but they have just two more PPV events booked for Las Vegas this year.

UFC 229 is booked to happen in Vegas on October 6 and the final PPV event of the year will take place on December 29, which are the two dates White is surely considering for a McGregor fight.

While it’s not confirmed what will happen, Nurmagomedov isn’t at all worried about facing McGregor it seems. Speaking to UFC Sport24.ru, Nurmagomedov said though he doesn’t know in what round it will happen, he will “destroy” McGregor when they fight.

“In what round will I be able to knock McGregor out?” Nurmagomedov asked. “I do not know, and no one can know this. I’m going to destroy him.”
