What a fantastic gesture from the Scottish champions…

The Christmas period is a football fan’s paradise with matches coming thick and fast but not all fans are flushed with cash to spend on tickets to see their favourite teams play.

That’s why we love this incredibly kind gesture by Celtic, who have just given away free tickets to their supporters without jobs for the upcoming home match against Ross County.

The club made this announcement via their website:

“We are pleased to announce that we are giving away a free ticket to supporters who are unemployed this Christmas for our next home match against Ross County on Saturday December 27.

“The initiative reflects our commitment to stay true to the founding principles of the club by helping those less fortunate and remain a Club open to all.”

As Celtic fans will know, the club’s founding principles were built on helping the less fortunate and developing strong community values. The club was founded by Brother Walfrid in an effort to provide soup, food and aid for the large Irish emigrant community in the east side of Glasgow.

The statement continues:

“We hope that by giving unemployed supporters the chance to attend Celtic Park for the match against Ross County will bring some Christmas cheer to fans who may not otherwise have been able to do so.”

This incredible gesture is available for any Celtic fan that’s currently unemployed and the free tickets will be available from the Celtic Park ticket office on a first come, first served basis.

JOE has nothing but the utmost respect for all those involved in making this decision and we think it’s such a kind gesture.
