St. Stephens Day is a great day for getting activities done whether it’s a charity five-a-side, a dip in the sea or a bit of hurling on the road.
In terms of hurling, 2016 brought with it a number of wonderful spectacles for fans with the titanic clashes of Waterford and Kilkenny being one of the stand-out memories.
Who can forget Austin Gleeson’s colossal performances in both games? Truly one of the most talented players in the game at the moment.
The end of the second game became famous for the image of a fan consoling a disconsolate Pauric Mahony on the field at the final whistle in what probably is the best hurling picture of 2016.
But there’s still some great pictures coming in as we edge towards 2017.

This photo, taken by Joseph Teefy, shows the scene at the door of the pub as the tired hurlers ventured inside to rejuvenate themselves with some well-earned minerals.
