Twitter reacts to Mayo’s demolition of Roscommon

Mayo for...?

Carl Kinsella

Mayo redefined the term “lopsided” this afternoon when they cruised past Roscommon with an emphatic 4-19 to 0-09 win.

Stephen Rochford’s men will take their place in the semi-final after having been forced into a quarter-final replay by a Roscommon side who seemed to lose their spirit today.

It was an imperious performance by last year’s All-Ireland runners-up, who will now go on to face Kerry in the semi-final.

Speaking to RTÉ, Aidan O’Shea said the prospect of the Kerry game was a thrilling one. “We’re in really good shape. Today was a bit more consistent but it’s not going to be good enough to beat Kerry. It’s a great game to look forward to and we’ll knuckle down over the next 10 days and give it a right go.”

Many on social media, not least Mayo fans, began thrumming with hope once more that this might be the year Mayo finally break that historic curse.
