Twitter reacts to Liverpool 1-2 Chelsea as ref rules out late Reds penalty appeal
Anthony Taylor denied Liverpool a clear penalty late in the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Anfield when Gary Cahill handled the ball in the box.
Diego Costa's goal gave the Blues a 2-1 win, following earlier strikes from Emre Can and Cahill, but Liverpool produced a decent display throughout the game to give Brendan Rodgers some optimism that the return of Daniel Sturridge can inspire better results.
It could have been a different story entirely had Taylor given a penalty for Cahill's clear handball from a Steven Gerrard shot.
Meanwhile, not everyone agreed that Liverpool had performed well...
Fair result, bar the fact that you can’t imagine how a ref doesn’t give Liverpool a penalty at 2-1 down near the end. Ref bottled it.

Major worry for #LFC was how bereft of ideas they were in 2nd half. Borini added some running, but subs didn’t impact game.

Brendan Rodgers has never beaten Chelsea as a manager. 8 games: 3 draws and 5 defeats.
