White says it’s logical that the Dubliner is next in line…

UFC President Dana White has suggested that Conor McGregor’s next fight could be for the featherweight title if Jose Aldo beats Chad Mendes at UFC 179.

The Notorious broke into the top five rankings following his win over Dustin Poirier last weekend and speaking on The Daily Download on UFC.com, White explained why McGregor versus Aldo makes sense.

“Here’s the thing: If you go down the (featherweight) list, every one of those guys has fought Jose Aldo already. Conor hasn’t. So who do you line up next for the champ other than Conor? Everybody else has fought him.”

White also cleared up the confusion over McGregor’s tweet yesterday when he claimed his next fight was going to be against Diego Sanchez at UFC 180.

“So Lorenzo (Fertitta) and I went to dinner with him (McGregor) last night, and he said he wants to fight Diego Sanchez in Mexico at 155. I said, ‘You’re nuts. No way, we’ll get you a fight. You’ll be fighting soon enough.’ The kid just wants to fight.

“He said him and Diego have been talking back and forth for a while and he wanted to fight him. We basically told him no and he went out and put that on Twitter anyway.”

Now we wait to see what happens between Aldo and Mendes.
