What was it that Roy said all those years ago? ‘Fail to prepare, prepare to fail,’ right?

While preparation might have been a little lax at times in Roy’s playing days, it’s certainly not an accusation that could be levelled at the set-up these days.

A new ad for Lucozade Sport goes behind the scenes at the Ireland training camp in Gannon Park, Malahide to examine the level of scientific detail that goes into preparing the Boys in Green for action, with everything from the distance covered by a player to a player’s heart rate the subject of forensic analysis on a daily basis.

If you’re into the science side of sports and physical preparation this will be right up your street and even if you’re not it will help get you pumped for the big one at Celtic Park this evening.

Whatever about the result, at least we know there will have been no stone left unturned in the build-up.
