It wasn’t enough to win the game in the end, but CBC Monkstown’s Adam Swan scored a helluva try in the Leinster Senior Cup quarter-final against Newbridge yesterday.

Newbridge emerged victorious on a scoreline of 16-11 in Donnybrook thanks to two tries from Joe D’Arcy, but had to fight their way back from an 8-3 deficit after Monkstown’s Adam Swan scored the opening try of the game after 20 minutes.

Befitting his name, Swan showed some graceful movement after a powerful hand off to get him away from the first tackle in midfield and his momentum was enough to power through a challenge from Niall Delahunt and cross over the line for the first try of the game (see video above).

In the end, Swan ended up playing second fiddle to D’Arcy, who touched down twice in the second half to ensure that Newbridge were the first team to set foot in the semi-finals of the Powerade Leinster Schools Senior Cup.

We’re sure there’ll be plenty more of where that came from by the time the final rolls around on Paddy’s weekend next month.
