Video: Carlow’s Paul Broderick nails five consecutive 45 metre kicks in 45 seconds

The man has a dinger of a left foot on him, that’s for sure.

The man has a dinger of a left foot on him, that’s for sure.

It might look easy to the Bryan Sheehans and Stephen Cluxtons of this world, but to the average Gaelic Football player, knocking a dead ball over the bar from 45 metres is not an easy task.

Whatever about one, knocking over five in a row is incredibly tough. Performing that feat in less than 45 seconds is even tougher, unless you’re Carlow county star Paul Broderick, who makes it look ridiculously easy in the video above.

To be honest, it’s more like 35 seconds considering that a good ten seconds have elapsed before he strikes the first ball and despite having precious little time to steady himself before every kick, his technique and execution never waver throughout.

The video was sent into us by Mel Broderick – who we can only assume is a close relation – who told us that he’d love to see the challenge trending (he even suggested a hashtag – #5in45) so if any would-be Maurice Fitzes or indeed, would-be Paul Brodericks out there think you can do likewise, feel free to send us a video of your own effort to [email protected] or via our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Ping!

Hat-tip to Mel Broderick for sending this one our way
