What do you think of it?
It all started so well for Ireland when Jared Payne touched down and South Africa’s Lood de Jager was sin binned for repeated infringements.
But things took a turn when CJ Stander was red carded for a late hit on fly half Patrick Lambie.
Lambie left the field on a stretcher after the collision.
It was Stander’s first start against the country of his birth and referee Mathieu Raynal brandished the red card following a consultation with his TMO.

A lot of people were infuriated with the decision.

No wonder Ireland never tour South Africa…what a howler of a decision, yet another based on outcome. Welcome home CJ stander indeed!

Red? Yellow at best for Stander. Risky but hardly malicious or deliberate. Changes #RSAvIRE utterly.

Honest to God! Shocking decision. Just shocking.
