The Cloyne man pulled no punches on RTE last night…

Cork were knocked out of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship by Tipperary yesterday as it finished 2-18 to 1-11 in favour of the Premier County who now go on to face Kilkenny in the All-Ireland Final on September 7.

There was massive disappointment among Cork fans leaving Croke Park as there was real optimism that this was going to be their year but Jimmy Barry Murphy’s men failed to produce on the day.

In any sport, after a team loses, there’s a post-mortem into what went wrong. People look at tactics, team selection, preparation etc but on The Sunday Game last night, former Rebels goalkeeper Donal Óg Cusack had a lot to say about the current overall state of Cork hurling.

Donal Óg pointed to the lack of coaching structure, the lack of underage success and he also had some pretty forthright views on the proposed Centre of Excellence planned for the new Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

We get the feeling he has wanted to get this off his chest for some time…
