As one member of the team in JOE Towers said, “They can’t get rid of this, it’s the greatest thing on Australian TV”.
Alas, today’s edition of the Rugby HQ top five is the 72nd and last edition of one of our favourite segments on the box as friend of the site Sean Maloney has decided to say farewell to what he has made his baby for such a long time.
In fairness to Sean, it must have been hard to consistently come up with topics on a weekly basis but he managed it, or at least he did until this week, when he decided to do a recap of his top five top fives from 2014.
It being his last ever top five, Sean must have put a lot of thought into it and he chose very well indeed, with worst passes of all time, best haka reponses of all time and the top five rugby magicians amongst the categories revisited, but Sean saved the best until last, with the top five biggest bloopers, featuring a half-naked Donncha O’Callaghan, coming in at number one.
We have to say that we’ve thoroughly enjoyed Sean’s top fives – many of which Sean has personally shared with us – for a long time and if ever fancies rebooting the series at any stage then they’ll find a welcome home here.
