The disbelief of Irish rugby fans at Brian O’Driscoll’s omission from the Lions squad was inevitable, but even in Australia they’re flabbergasted at the news.
It’s fair to say that there was a bit of a reaction when the world woke up to the news this morning that Warren Gatland had decided to axe Brian O’Driscoll from the Lions squad for the final test against the Wallabies this weekend and while it obviously generated more of a reaction here than elsewhere; it seems to have caused quite a ripple Down Under as well.
The lads at Rugby HQ on Fox Sports Down Under regularly update us with the brilliant top fives they muster together every week and it didn’t take long for Sean Maloney and the gang to come up with a video pleading for Warren Gatland to see sense and restore our greatest ever rugby player to the squad before the weekend.
The plea, unfortunately, is likely to fall on deaf ears, but it just goes to show that the disbelief at O’Driscoll’s omission isn’t just restricted to these shores.
